The Survey Results are in!

The survey results for my lifestyle assessment are in.

I was able to get 88 responses.
Not so surprisingly, most of you want to live in an urban or semi-urban area.
Yet once people have children, they step it back a notch, wanting to live in a semi-urban or suburban area.
Check out the results to see the qualities everyone wants in the places they want to live.

To influence those of you who prefer suburban and rural areas, you might want to take a look at this interview with Harvard Professor Edward Glaeser on The Daily Show, concerning his new book “Triumph of the City”.

Thanks to those who responded to the survey- I will keep it open and keep collecting responses to see if anything changes.

Lifestyle Assessment Survey

Hey everyone- as part of this thesis I am conducting a survey on lifestyle preferences.
If you have 3 minutes please take this 10-question survey- I’d really appreciate it.
I’ll post the results here so everyone can take a look at how Generation Y wants to live.
Also- this survey is intended for people born after 1980.

Let me know if there are any problems with the survey.
Thanks!

Update for Kevin Vandersall

I have updated my thesis information to include pages on my first case study, my theoretical position, and the history of the project site.  My first case study is conducted on the “Forwarding Dallas” submission to the Re:Vision Dallas competition, designed by Atelier Data and MOOV architects.  The project envisions a model for mixed-use developments that generate their own energy, collect rainwater, process waste, produce agriculture, engage public space, and provide opportunities for urban living.

Please check out the pages and leave your comments.  Comments are much appreciated.

Whats New: Pages, Users

All-

We have added a new page- links- which contains links to important links to web information on things happening in downtown Dallas.

We would also like to welcome Kamala, who has been added to the blog and will upload her thesis content in due time.  Steven will be added soon as well.

Also- each studio member will manage their own page differently, but I (Kevin) have added pages for my project abstract and project description.  My theoretical position will be up by next week as well as my first case study and information on my resources.

Thanks for tuning in- more to come soon.

Farmers Market added to Interactive map

The interactive map (linked on the Research page) has been re-organized, updated to include a synopsis, and now contains information about the Farmers Market.

Understanding how people are living in these areas are critical to developing architectural projects/interventions in the area.  These maps, graphs, and other data are crucial.  All of the information used in the interactive map comes from city-data.com.

Check out the map here.
